Born in Russia in 1961, Dr. Raissa M. Frenkel earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the Kazan Finance Institute in 1982. After completing her dissertation, Dr. Frenkel was asked to stay on as a professor at the university, where she worked for seven years.
In 1991, she moved with her family to the United States and eventually co-founded both a highly successful global energy company and a private equity firm with her husband, Lazar Finker.
In 2013, Dr. Frenkel and her husband created the Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation as a way to use their extraordinary business success to help others. She currently resides in Jacksonville, Florida with her family.
A native of Russia and an accomplished musician, Dr. Lazar “Lonya” Finker holds a Master of Arts from the Kazan Academy of Culture, a Ph.D. in Juvenile Delinquency from the Academy of Pedagogical Science and a Masters of Law from Kazan State University.
In 1991, Dr. Finker was invited to teach as a visiting international professor at Florida Community College. He moved with his family to Jacksonville, where he and his wife co-founded a multinational energy company and a private equity firm.
In 2013, Lazar and his wife, Raissa Frenkel founded the Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation as a way to pass down a generational legacy of giving to his family. Dr. Finker currently resides in Jacksonville, Florida.
Founder and CEO of Legacy Group of Companies, a multi-family office and asset management firm focusing on serving ultra high net worth families, Eugene Frenkel is active in a number of philanthropic endeavors. In addition to his position as a director of the Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation, Eugene is a board member and executive committee member for Make-a-Wish South Florida and The University of Miami School of Business, as well as a Board of Trustee member for Mt. Sinai.
Mr. Frenkel holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Florida and an MBA in International Business and Marketing from the University of Miami.
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Steven Finker graduated with his Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from the University of Miami Business School and is currently working at Atlantic Sapphire, a stainable fishery producing local, Bluehouse-raised salmon. In addition to his philanthropic duties as a board member for the Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation, he is also involved with many sustainable efforts both through his employment and through volunteer work.
Growing up in Florida, Mr. Finker has long been fascinated with the unexplored depths of the ocean and harbors a deep commitment to environmental conservation and activism. In service of this passion, Mr. Finker regularly takes part in beach and dive cleanups with his fellow students and Foundation partners. After finishing his studies, he hopes to use his business skills to create lasting positive social and environmental change around the world.
Mr. Finker currently resides in Miami.
