The Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation: Powering the Impact of the 29th Annual InterContinental Miami Make-A-Wish Ball
The Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation pledged a $1 million gift to the 29th Annual InterContinental® Make-A-Wish® Ball, which raised more than $5 million to grant heartfelt wishes to critically ill children across South Florida.
“The work of Make-a-Wish is a fundamental part of the treatment for these courageous children,” said Eugene Frenkel, who is completing his first year as chairman of Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida. “Our family is proud to continue to play a small role in transforming children’s lives, one wish at a time.”
The “Circo” theme at this year’s ball transported the more than 900 guests to an Italian circus that blurred the boundaries of reality, creating a mesmerizing spectacle to the delight and amazement of the crowd.
Guests were moved by seven-year-old Kennedy and her parents, who shared the impact of her wish to bake with her favorite celebrity chef.
Throughout the evening, guests of the ball had an opportunity to bid on one-of-a-kind art, lifestyle products, vacation experiences and packages. Grammy Award winner Gwen Stefani capped the evening with a dynamic performance that had everyone dancing the night away.
The 30th Annual InterContinental® Make-A-Wish® Ball is scheduled for November 1, 2025.
The annual InterContinental® Make-A-Wish® Ball, now in its 29th year, continues to be a shining beacon of hope for children facing critical illnesses across South Florida. The evening, filled with excitement, raises millions to support Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida’s mission of granting life-changing wishes.
This year, the event was marked by the commitment of the Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation, which pledged a $1 million gift to the cause, once again. The contribution was instrumental in helping the ball raise more than $5 million, all of which will go toward granting heartfelt wishes to children in need. These wishes are not just wishes, they are moments that provide hope and joy to children, while offering them an escape when forced to think BIG.
Our very own Eugene Frenkel, Director of the Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation and now Make-A-Wish Southern Florida’s Chairman of the Board, expressed, “The work of Make-A-Wish is a fundamental part of the treatment for these courageous children. Our family is proud to continue to play just a small role in transforming children’s lives, one wish at a time.” These words highlight the power of these wishes and their impact on the lives of Wish Kids and their families.
While the event itself was a dazzling celebration – this year’s “Circo” theme transported over 900 guests to an enchanting Italian circus, blending fantasy and reality in a breathtaking spectacle – the true heart of the evening lies in its purpose: raising funds to make life-changing wishes come true. Attendees had the opportunity to bid on exclusive art pieces, luxury vacations, and one-of-a-kind experiences, all while knowing that each dollar raised would directly benefit the children of Make-A-Wish Southern Florida.
One of the most moving moments of the evening came when seven-year-old Kennedy, with her family, shared her Wish experience. Kennedy’s wish to bake with her favorite celebrity chef was more than just a dream – it was a moment that brought joy, healing, and unforgettable memories to her and her family.
The evening drew to a close with Grammy Award-winning artist Gwen Stefani taking the stage, giving attendees an electrifying performance that put everyone on their feel, celebrating the incredible impact of the night and the collective effort which will bring countless wishes to life.
Looking ahead, the 30th Annual Make-A-Wish Ball will continue its tradition of raising funds to grant life-changing wishes for children in South Florida. Thanks to the support of donors, volunteers, and attendees, Make-A-Wish is able to transform the lives of children battling critical illnesses, one wish at a time. This magical evening is a continuous testament to the power of community, generosity, and compassion.
