In the aftermath of the October 7th Hamas terrorist attack that claimed nearly 1,200 innocent Israeli lives, the Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation is proud to have partnered with local Make-A-Wish Southern Florida’s chapter in a mission of compassion.  Together,  $1 million was raised for Make-A-Wish Israel to support of Israeli children affected by this tragedy.

Less than a month after the attack, on November 2nd, the Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation hosted a powerful fundraiser that brought together notable South Florida business leaders and supporters. The event featured a performance by master mentalist Lior Suchard, which added a touch of magic to the event. A highlight of the event was the presence of  Make-A-Wish Israel CEO Denise Bar-Aharon and her husband and cofounder, Avi Bar-Aharon, who travelled to Miami to personally receive this gesture of solidarity. The evening was highlighted by the significant support of the Zebersky family, along with a video message from Israeli-Canadian philanthropist Sylvan Adams, whose generous donation strengthened the cause.

Reflecting on the support, Denise Bar-Aharon expressed deep gratitude: “The incredible generosity of our new and old friends during the most challenging and painful time in all our lives has truly made each and every one of them feel like family. We will forever be grateful.”

The Bar-Aharons founded Make-A-Wish Israel in 1996, in memory of Denise’s brother, and since then, the organization has fulfilled over 5,500 transformational wishes for critically ill children, aged 3 to 18.

As the Finker-Frenkel Foundation continues to stand with communities in times of crisis, their partnership with Make-A-Wish Israel exemplifies the power of collective action and the impact of compassion. This fundraiser not only highlighted global unity in response to a recent tragedy but also reinforced the ongoing commitment to bringing hope and joy to children in need.
