Eugene Frenkel breaks ground at the Finker-Frenkel Wish House in Miami

The 30,000-sq.-foot structure, funded by the Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation, will provide a permanent home in Miami for the nonprofit organization and the children it serves.

MIAMI, Fla. – Oct. 6. 2021 – Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation Director Eugene Frenkel spoke today at a groundbreaking ceremony for the Finker-Frenkel Wish House, a new five-story, 30,000-square-foot building in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood that will act as a permanent home for Make-A-Wish Southern Florida and the critically ill children and families it serves.

The Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation is the lead donor for the Finker-Frenkel Wish House. Once completed, the Wish House will provide children in need with an inspirational, fun and safe destination where they can experience their life-changing wishes with their families. It will also provide the Southern Florida chapter with crucial event and administrative space.

“It is an honor to be here today celebrating the beginning of a new chapter for this incredible organization,” said Mr. Frenkel, Director of the Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation and Board Member at Make-A-Wish Southern Florida. “Make-A-Wish has spent so many years bringing hope and joy into the lives of children around the world, and it is a great privilege for our Foundation to assist in the construction of the Wish House. Over the next few decades, this building will facilitate so much good for untold numbers of critically ill children, their families and the Make-A-Wish staff who work tirelessly every day granting life-changing wishes.”

As proud partners of Make-A-Wish Southern Florida, The Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation routinely adopts wishes for critically ill children in Florida, supports the organization through regular donations toward the Make-A-Wish endowment and capital campaigns, and acts as sponsor for the annual Make-A-Wish Gala.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generosity the Finker-Frenkel Family Foundation has extended to us over the years,” said Norm Wedderburn, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Southern Florida. “This would not have been possible without their support, and we so excited about the many new ways in which the Finker-Frenkel Wish House will serve the Overtown community in the years to come.”
